Home Phone Connect – a great way to save money

Enter our Home Phone Connect giveaway!

For the last three months, my family and I have been testing Home Phone Connect, a new service by Verizon Wireless that aims to give you a more convenient and economical way to manage your home phone line.

I don’t know about you, but I grew up with multiple home phone lines. There was a main house line and two more lines to accommodate a large and rather chatty group of teenagers. And even with so many lines, the fights over the various phones were epic!

Fast forward a few (hundred) years and now we all have cellphones. Many of us have given up our home phone lines altogether. Yet for me, the home phone has always been a mainstay, and not just because of the lower international rates and call quality.

However, the Home Phone Connect system by Verizon is a game changer for people like me. The fees represent big savings for my family. Here are just some of the benefits:

  • $19.99 per month gives you unlimited calling throughout the US to both cellular and landlines
  • $3.99 per month for international calling
  • 9 cents per minute to Mexico if you call a landline; 25 cents per minute to call a cellphone
  • everything is included in your monthly Verizon Wireless bill

As an additional benefit, you can take your home phone on vacation, so you can talk as long as you want without draining your batteries or using up the minutes on your family’s cellphones.

To show our appreciation of this great product, we will be giving away a Home Phone Connect device ($129.99 value) with one month of free service, including unlimited local and long distance calls. (There is no contract to sign.)

To enter, simply leave a comment here on the importance of your home phone and we will select a winner at 10am EST on September 30th. The winner will be contacted by e-mail and announced here on our web site.

I think it would be great to be able to eliminate my land line and have a small monthly bill. When I'm away from home I could avoid missing important calls by having the Home Phone Connect device. I have been raising my 5 year old grandson for 4 years and it would be so much easier to just have 1 number where I could be reached all of the time. Instead of 2 different phones and numbers it would really make my life more simple and convenient.

It's important to have a home phone - but it is so expensive - would love to try this.

I have been wanting to ditch my landline for a while but don't feel secure doing it since my kids (5 and 8) are so familiar with our home number. I've also been wanting to jump from AT&T to Verizon. This would be a great way to check it out!

I have thought about getting rid of our land line to save money, but I haven't been able to do it. I like knowing it is there when we need it, and there are no batteries to worry about. Land lines always have service - unless the power goes out. Also, no worrying about how many minutes we've used. HPC sounds really great, and I would love to try it!
