Kaspersky PURE Total Security
Leading Internet security firm Kaspersky Lab has announced the release of Kaspersky PURE Total Security, a comprehensive security software package aimed at families who use multiple PCs. While it combines the features of Kaspersky’s top-rated Internet Security 2011 and Anti-Virus 2011 programs, PURE Total Security also includes a central management function, which allows users to protect and manage all the PCs in their home network.
The centerpiece of Kaspersky PURE Total Security is a suite of robust parental controls. According to Kaspersky’s Anti-Malware Lab, there are 20 newly infected children’s web sites appearing daily. Building on the strong parental controls included in Internet Security 2011, PURE Total Security includes: - blocking features to restrict inappropriate web sites and content;
- time-management controls to limit the amount of screen time;
- safeguards to prevent the sharing of personal or private information;
- keyword flags to monitor for profanities or harassment; and
- the ability to save transcripts of IM or social networking communications.
Kaspersky PURE Total Security also gives parents the added advantage of being able to centrally manage these controls for each individual PC on their home network. If your teen needs a little more screen time to complete a homework assignment, then you can take care of that right from your own PC. Need to add to the list of blocked web sites for your tween? You can do that from your central location as well.
However, the central management tools for PURE Total Security go far beyond the parental control features. You can run scans, schedule automated file backups, and fix security issues. You can strengthen and store each family member’s passwords through the Password Manager feature; you can encrypt personal information or sensitive data; and you can permanently delete information using the File Shredder application. All this from one central PC.
PURE Total Security also includes the threat detection, safe run, and clean up tools from Kaspersky’s best-selling anti-virus programs.
Kaspersky PURE Total Security is available as a direct download or as packaged software from retail outlets, both priced at $89.95. The price includes a one-year license for up to three computers. One-year protection for up to five computers will cost $149.95. Discounts are available if you purchase additional years. A 30-day free trial is also available.
